We did the tower

Climbed the bell tower - about £3 - and had very nice views. The staircase is metal and open (not tightly enclosed by stone).

The bell tower is an amazing experience... it is very very high though. I am a little bit afraid of heights so this one was a challenge for me to get to the top but it is completely worth it!! You can see so much of the sea and the city from the top. It's 20kn per person to go... More

This 13th century church is quite close to the Bronze (south) Gate of the Palace complex. While the bell tower may not be the easier climb with some tight corners and higher than normal steps, you will find it worth while when you set foot at the top as it gives you a breathtaking view of the beautiful Riva Harbour... You need a good head fir heights and be fit (and slim) enough to climb and descend the narrow stone stairs with big steps in places. Leads to metal staircase to the very top. You feel quite exposed if you are uncomfortable with these things but it's quite safe. Great view over all the tiled rooftops to the mountains makes... More

We visited both the cathedral and the bell tower. The cathedral was 25k per person and whilst interesting, it was a very short visit. We were only inside for approximately 5 minutes. We were also not aware that the bell tower and cathedral were separate with separate tickets being required for the bell tower (20k) each. The bell tower itself... More

This tower pierces the skyline of the old town and makes for great photographs so be looking for it in your lens.

Since it is easy to get lost in the narrow streets of old Split -the clock tower serves as a compass. If you are fit enough you can walk up this highest tower in Croatia and enjoy the view.

We visited on Easter Sunday, when an important service and bell ringing was in full swing. The bells were so loud, and extremely impressive. We climbed up the tower slightly higher than the bells, however after that, it didn't feel completely safe. The railings leave a fair amount to be desired, and it had rained, and was slippery. The views... More

This had been Diocletian's tomb but the Christians ritually smashed his tomb and most of the other artwork and made it into a cathedral. At least the place was maintained as a result of becoming a church. The dome probably had mosaics at one time; in all a very interesting space if you can look between the later additions. Same... The views from the tower were fantastic. My other half made it up the stone stairs but legs went to jelly once seeing the internal "metal fire escape" stairs. Worth a visit unless you don't like nights ;)
