Vibrant market on the day we went.
The market was really busy when we went past. We went back for lunch and found that they were doing a fund raiser event for a sick local girl which was excellent to see great local support for community. There was a band and activities for children and plenty of food choices which were donating monies raised to the charity so we got a great burger lunch and helped out a community as well. There were the normal stalls there as well, but it seemed a bit more vibrant with all the extra activities going on. It still would of been a good market to see anyway due to the varieties of stalls there.

Shop like a local while staying in Split
We are staying nearby at a place with a small kitchen. It’s so nice to be able to cook the occasional meal to break up the monotony of restaurant meals. We bought meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables. cheese, olives etc at various stalls. Had to get out google translate a few times to ask questions but that was part of the fun.

    Place to visit
I don't know why it's called green market (I would call it only open market) when you can buy there everything - fruits, flowers, meat, honey, olive oil, but also vegan street food, clothes, hats, shoes, fridge magnets or other souvenirs, etc. It was full mainly of tourists. Situated at the beginning of Promenade and near to the bus station an harbour. One night we were longer in the town and the part with clothes etc. (not veg/fruit) was still open.

Dried figs and sage were my first purchases from a local woman selling the produce of her own garden. The fresh fruit selection was abundant and inexpensive and available till afternoon.

Went to the markets in February and found them to be fairly basic, with many stalls selling similar things you go through fairly quickly the market area.

Some really good stalls that have fresh fruit and vegetable was good, did get some fresh fruit that was very nice to eat.

Maybe in summer markets are lot better and more variety for customers.

It's a variation between a Green and a Flea market, although i hear Split hs on the weekends a "proper" flea market as well, at another location. But here too one can find, beside fruits, vegetables and meat, also practically everything else - from an umbrella when rain shower starts, to Chinese copies of designer brand items. It's quite close to the ferry harbor, bus and railway terminals and Diocletian's Palace, and easy to find.

Tons of fruit and local veggies mixed with butchers and fish mongers. Stall after stall filled with food vendors and a flea market with every type of product from antiques clothing tourist junk. You never know what you will find.
