We didn’t have a lot of time to spend at the museums today, but we were very impressed. We entered with a tour guide and learned that most of the pieces in there are from the personal collection of the owners of the hotel. They...More

The museums and ruins are nice, but perhaps I wasn't in the mood for the museums in Guatemala. There are better ruins for a lower price. If I were staying at hotel, however, I would have liked the atmosphere. Overall, I think there are more...More

this place has some beautiful ruins, a chapel with a gorgeous altar and it also has a restaurant. I understand this place has rooms, but we were here just as visitors with a city tour and they combined the colonial art pieces with an exhibition...More

Painting, sculpture, old apothecary store from Guatemala City. Old convent setting interesting but lacks interpretation. Hotel in one wing is a little jarring. Still, an interesting place to visit.

For the price of admission you can access a bunch of different types of exhibits, some more interesting than others, get a closeup look at a crypt, stop by a chocolate store (souvenirs!) and view artifacts. But the main reason to visit is to see...More

An amazing rebirth of an old architecturally fascinating site. Contemporary beauty growing out of ancient ruins. Welcoming modern facilities tastefully developed with respect for the past.

I spent 2 hours just wandering the grounds of this fantastic place. Hundreds of artifacts along the hallways. Fountain after beautiful fountain tucked into every corner. Saints and busts and antiques. Gorgeous place. The restaurant was expensive for La Antiqua standards but not by US.

Casa Santo Domingo is just a great place to visit. Immaculately maintained grounds, historical architecture, beautiful macaws, flowers everywhere, AND interesting historical and museum areas. Reasonably good signage make it easy to visit, but a local guide does accentuate the experience. It is a shame...More

You do not need air conditioning. It's not that hot in Antigua during the summer. We stayed at Porta Hotel Antigua and just ate at Santo Domingo so I don't know.

They have fans on ceiling. The trees and plants provides a nice fresh air around the site.

Yes. But town is very unagreeable to drive around (narrow streets and difficult to park day time).
