An excellent place to visit

I like this gem in the volcanic mountains. It is well situated and there are many souvenir shops around. This church is well maintained after so many years with its museum, etc,

As you arrive at the property you enter the parking area and it opens up beautifully. There is a small mixed vendor market in the front area as well as bathrooms (pay to use). The church is beautiful but make special note you cannot wear shorts that are above the knee inside or sleeveless shirts. Also as with most of... More

We always return to San Francisco every time we are in Antigua. The museum is quite interesting, with tributes from hundreds of persons who have been cured by Santo Hermano Pedro. The ruins are quite beautiful, with interesting places to explore, great view of Volcan Fuego, especially when its puffing, and gorgeous flowering trees and vines. Admission is about $1.

We were taken there by a driver who also explained many of the areas we were looking at from the cross. The elevation of Antigua is over 5000 feet ( like Denver) and when we had to walk back up the hill beyond the cross to the parking lot, we felt the altitude air being thinner. The territorial views of... More

Ruins are very beautiful and there was a market when we went there so we walked around for a bit inside the market, church is very pretty, ruins have been conserved nicely.

The town was charming and bustling. There were a few too many vendors trying to hawk their wares. The highlight of the visit for us was the Church of San Francisco! The church itself is charming but the walk up to the rooftop was the big surprise! It is an undulating field of white and simply gorgeous! We expected the... More

Beautiful church and ruins. If you are in the neighbourhood its worth paying the couples of dollars to do a walk around. The courtyard was full of vendors. Great Photo Op!

Antigua is a very easy city to walk around and this is a nice stopping point along the way. The courtyard is also interesting with some shops.

The admission to get in is very cheap, around $1 and definitely worth it to explore the ruins and have a wonder through the grounds. There are a few artifacts to take in at the museum.

Beautiful church and ruins. Most interesting to see the relics from Santo Hermano Pedro, beatified in 2012 but whose remains were in the church 400 years prior. They were moved to a new crypt at that event, but the original is also there and seems to have more energy around it.
