The museum is home to a 46-foot sperm whale skeleton, a restored 1847 oil and candle factory, and countless Nantucket artifacts and treasures. I read Moby Dick and In the Heart of the Sea and had to make a trip to Nantucket to see the community and the Museum. This is an amazing place, so much remains of the past. The museum program and displays were very worthwhile.More

The narrative of the talks was so informative. The history of the island was much more than I had known. It was very enlightening and could have stayed much longer to listen to the other scheduled talks and films.

Thank you for your question. Service dogs are the only dogs that are allowed in the Whaling Museum. If your dog is a service dog, you may bring it with you during your visit, otherwise, animals are not permitted. Thank you!
