A nice statue in the daytime but wait until night....changing colors and the fountains and lions come alive make this a must! Then take a stroll around the square. Magical at night in my opinion.

There's nothing especially noteworthy about the statue. In addition, there's no explanation of it - which would be very helpful. You can't miss it if you visit the square.

Biggest statue on the square. It does have some interesting details, but the main statue - Alexander, looks weird. Impossible to not see, but also the horses head looks funny in some angels as if the head is too small. I had a great laugh...More

Situated in the centre of Macedonia square it's striking and impressive. The locals will tell you of the government investment in the city and this is a good example of one of the many statues throughout Skopje!

We were staying next door at the Marriott hotel so we would pass this statue everyday. My daughter could not get enough photos of herself next to this spectacular statue with its water fountain.

Stunning piece of monument that needs to be seen and appreciated. The illumination and work work make viewing more pleasant. Great place to sit and watch families hanging out.

Won't be to everyone's taste and I wouldn't argue with those who might call it a little garish, but I quite liked the warrior on a horse. Aside from the impressive size and scale the lighting and fountains make it a worthwhile sight, particularly for...More

The Skopje is really the world kitsch capital and this statue is the proof. The country has own unique version of the European history. This statue is just way too big having in account the square size and the building around it. Just you feel uncomfortable...More

Oh, the statues are great, yes ;-)... The Program for re-building the inner city of skopje was called "Skopje 2014", because it should have been completed in 2014. So, although that didn´t work out, I guess most of it is... More
