- jordanellie41Longridge, United Kingdom1,157 contributionsNICE TO SEE BUT NOTHING SPECTACULARThe cross can be seen at the top of Mount Vodno and is accessed by cable car or by hiking. I hiked the Sonje pass from Sonje village which took 45 minutes. It's a giant cross made with metal mesh design and looks around 50 feet tall. It makes for some good photos but in my opinion it's nothing spectacular. However all the views will hide your possible disappointment with the cross itselfVisited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 2 December 2023
- J IWashington DC, District of Columbia12 contributionsA Great SidetripWe didn't know the cross existed upon arrival, but we quickly learned from the internet that there is a cable car that takes one to the top of the mountain. It's a great ride! And inexpensive! One takes city bus no. 25 from the central bus station (next to the central train station) to a point part-way up the mountain where the cable car starts.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 January 2024
- Traveller162014Leeds, United Kingdom1,730 contributionsFantastic ViewsWe came to see this as part of a group tour. We got the cable car up to the top and were simply astonished by the views! What a mountainous region we were in. Great view of the city of Skopje itself too. The cross is pretty cool to admire, one of the tallest in the world!Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 5 April 2024
- Wulf7731 contributionsBeautiful viewsGreat view of the city and surrounding mountains. The cable car ride was nice and had great views. You must try the frozen coffee at the juice bar. It is awesome! The one huge drawback is that there are no restrooms on top of the mountain. Please prepare your bladder accordingly. There are portable toilets down in the parking area.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 June 2024
- ShekeSalzburg, Austria14 contributionsAmazing Views of Skopje 🇲🇰We went there by Taxi coz we were in a hurry. If you are not, take bus number 25, it will take you there. We then took the cable car up. Beautiful views of Skopje. We enjoyed just being there. There are two restaurants. However, you can take your own food and Picknick on the grass or in the huts. It's a must go!!!!! Wonderful ❤️❤️❤️❤️Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 1 July 2024
- McNomadGlasgow, United Kingdom78 contributionsGood viewsTo get there by bus go the local bus station, next to the international one, both under the motorway and get tickets from the grey booth. Only 160 return, my 13 year old was free. Takes 40 minutes. The cable car only runs for 30 minutes then stops for 30. Good view. Avoid rip off taxi drivers.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 July 2024
- cbattistel7298 contributionsGreat view of ScopjeGray view from the top. Access is done by cabin lift. Bar is present. No toilets are present on the base or on the top of the mountain (also in the bars) . I acceptable in my opinion considering the number of tourists present during my visit.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 August 2024
- Frostywasp999Marlow, United Kingdom245 contributionsGreat views but no toilets or food at top!Great 360 degree views from top but no toilets or restaurant! Take bus 25 from Skopje centre but only runs roughly every hour, up and back to start of gondola. Buildings at top very run down and gondola only runs every half hour.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 September 2024
- Süleyman EserIstanbul, Türkiye17 contributionsEverything about Millennium CrossThere is transportation from Skopje Bus Station by bus number 25. You will see a yellow bus, where you can buy a bus pass and use the buses in the city at an affordable price. We didn't take it, we paid 50 denars per person in cash for bus number 25. It brings you to the cable car station in about 20-25 minutes. We paid 100 denars per person for the cable car. There is nothing above except the cross! There's a bad and simple café and it's hard for me to say it's worth all the efforts. If Jesus didn't say he would meet you there, you can devote your time to other activities.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 October 2024

25a is the free bus up to the base of cable car. 100 den (£1) return trip per adult. Views were breathtaking on the cable car. At the top what a mess. Yes views are beautiful but these are detracted from but the immense grot. A good tidy up is desperately needed.
Cable car down was again lovely, but bus trip back to Skopje was hideous. Too many people pushing and shoving so the bus was totally overloaded and left us uneasy but we couldn’t get off even if we tried! Wait by the end of the car park for a taxi is my advice! Don’t get off the cable car either!!

The Millennium Cross is situated on the top of Vodno Mountain to the south of the city. There is a cable car to the top, but I didn't go up as the cable car does not run on Mondays - the only day I was in the city. However the cross can be seen from numerous locations in the centre of Skopje. It is one of the most recent sites, in a city of new constructions, having been completed in 2019.

This is the first and last thing we saw while in Skopje. From our approach on the plane, till taking off on the way out, it lights up the sky. It can also be seen from pretty much anywhere in the city, and adds to a really charming city.

You can see it from downtown, but also take a cable car to get there. From the centre, a cab would cost you around 400 denar, to the start of the cable car, which is 200 denar. Lovely views from above.

Arriving at the funicular by taxi, it turned out that the funicular was not working in the evening. We decided to walk once we were here. We thought we'd make it before sundown, because it didn't seem that far away. But we were wrong the road was very difficult, in places the road climbs so steeply up that you go the whole body on an incline, and one leg should be shorter than the other :) since the incline and sideways too :). Sunset occurred about a third of the way through. The rest was covered in utter darkness on almost four. It's good to be in humorous company, or it would be bad. Everyone was wearing only a half-liter bottle of water, which was split down the throats. The end crawled, took a couple of photos, admired the lights of the city, and also crawled down, which I want to note is not so easy either. The forest, the darkness, lit up the path with a cell phone. The feet buzzed and hurt for another week, and the grated calluses chewed even longer (although everyone had comfortable shoes).

Fantastic view and outdoor experience 🙏
So many people here who are enjoy the sunny weather and playground for the kids. There’s a kiosk here wherevyou can by some snacks and something to drink. You can take the cablecar up and down if you want or just oneway ticket. It’s cheap, 200 denar for two bothway. Enjoy your stay 👌😊

Great views. Caught a cab from the center for $311mkd. Was dropped off at the cable cars. $100mkd for round trip to the top. Very cool 360 views. Not much up top. A few places to grab a beer or soda. Disappointed to see so many street dogs😢. Wish I brought some food. Really sad to see them rummage thru garbage for food. I decided to walk back down to the city. There is a clearly marked foot path. A bit challenging at times (it is steep in some places) but worth the adventure. Took me about an hour. I’m 64 year old female.. felt very safe and enjoyed the solitude.

Hello, I am going to be in Skopje only on the days when the cable car does not work (Monday and the last Tuesday of the month). Is it possible to go all the way up to the cross by car/taxi? Thanks.

Hi, do someone know the frequency (including departure time) of the bus from skopje city centre to millenium cross
Written 18 June 2017
Hi, the bus departures from the city railway station every half an hour, starting from 8 in the morning till 18h in the afternoon. In the period from 10 to 12h is going every 20min. However, you can also wait for it at the Record station in the city center if it is more suitable for you. You can check the schedule at the city transport web page jsp.mk
