I recently took a family trip to the Amherst area, and was looking for things to do to please an age range from 12 to 83. I personally love children's picture books, especially the artwork, so was excited to learn about the Eric Carle Museum. Entry fee is $9 for adults, $6 for children and $6 for seniors. We paid.... If you're a fan of Eric Carle's picture books, as well as many other similar books, this is a museum well worth visiting! We got there just before closing, so we didn't have a chance to linger, but the staff was very friendly nonetheless. You felt a little like you were entering an experiential place, not just a stale building... More

Beautiful small modern museum that showcases the local landscape through big pane windows. Exhibits well displayed and easy to navigate. Illustrations of Eric Carle's collages lovely and I also enjoyed the Eloise exhibit, gift shop with good selection of children's books and greeting cards.

Brown bear is a HUGE hit in our family, so we took a 2 hour road trip to see the museum. They are celebrating 50 years of brown bear. Tickets here are only free if the child is under 1. Therefore I thought there would be more for my toddler to do...since we were paying a full museum admission for... More

Drove about an hour to the museum and was very disappointed to find much that was hands-on for a toddler or any outdoor play area. Given the characters of Eric Carle and other picture books, I really expected more hands-on/interactive exhibits or outdoor areas. We drove about an hour to get to the museum and my 2 1/2 year old... Had a blast! We went through the exhibits and had so much fun seeing all our favorite characters. Did a scavenger hunt, read a couple of books in their library, watched a couple of 3-5 min. movies and created masks in the art studio. We had so much fun and after we went to Atkins for Cookies and Chocolate Milk.... More

This museum dedicated to picture books was the ideal solution for where to "hang out" on a mid-winter day when getting together with our daughter, her husband, and their toddler son. Great spaces to roam and play, in addition to interesting exhibit galleries. Child-friendly, even with a nice eating are to which you can bring in food. (Good market down... More

Wonderful films about this exceptional artist, Eric Carle's process. Lovely galleries and a "hands on" activity room for children and adults to experience the idea of collage.

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful museum. The building and facilities are gorgeous and the whole place seems thoughtfully designed. There is a scavenger hunt for kids that takes you throughout the museum. There are 3 galleries, which seem to mostly interest grown-ups, an art studio for kids and grown-ups alike, a library with books and some toys,... More

As an early childhood educator I was in awe of the museum. Not only Eric Carle's work, but the other magnificent illustrators featured. Try to attend a reading, so worthwhile. Prepare to set aside at least 2 hrs if you are a fan.
