The buildings are fascinating and well-maintained examples of seventeenth-century colonial life. The history spans the early days in the colonies' struggles for independence, the war itself, and the next few decades after Independence. A staff of volunteer guides is ready to go through each inch...More

Amazing details about every stage of life the fort had. Great guides who not only know the history but want to tell it. Also getting to hold three types of cannon balls and run through the steps of firing a cannon was awesome.

A great place to visit for both adults and children. They have people dressed in the time period and they answer your questions as if they where in the time.

Great place for history buffs, and history-buffs-in-the-making. Our tour of this mid-1700s fort was informative and quite a bit of fun. It brought us through local history from the time when the site was a Native American trading post, through the French and Indian War,...More

This place is for history buffs that are into what happened over two hundred years ago in Augusta Maine. The upkeep is reasonable. It does give you a picture of how things used to be.
