Don't go unless the birds are there! There is absolutely nothing to see if the birds have migrated already.

Egrets and other birds gather here and keep coming back to this location inside the Jungle Gardens. Very interesting to bird lovers but impression depends on density of birds seen.

This is on Avery Island inside Jungle Gardens. Must pay to go in Jungle Gardens $8 per person. There were no birds here when I visited. I'm sure it is neat looking to see when there are birds though. Not much to see at this...More

We loved Bird City. Such a beautiful lagoon So many birds nesting on the piers, platforms, and trees. Great for photographic opportunities. We observed other wildlife, including turtles. The walk to the sanctuary is beautiful.

Part of the Jungle Gardens tour at Avery Island and it houses a large egret (breeding), alligator and turtle population. Walk to the platform and watch in silence: beautiful!

unfortunately not. uneven ground and stairs to climb. You may want to check with the little store there though. maybe there is another place to view it from that may be wheel chair accessible
