I have been here a couple of times and always enjoy bringing my telephoto lens and watching the Egrets come and go feeding there young.

This is part of the jungle garden ticket on Avery island. You get to drive to different parts of the garden and this is one of it. It's a scenic view of the river and you get to see a point where you can view the birds and the sunset. They have a variety of birds on the island.

It's not too often that one can find such a beautiful and serene spot like this. It was planned beautifully. We really enjoyed the bird viewing and saw many varieties. We just parked the car and enjoyed nature at it's best. This is part of the Jungle Gardens so please don't rush by and miss it.

Depending on the time of year, different species of birds are present. Be prepared for the noise. Worth spending some time as part of your jungle gardens visit.

I'm not sure why this has it's own listing; maybe at one time it had a separate entrance. I reviewed it as part of the Jungle Gardens review but just in case you missed it I put some pictures here too.

Beautiful to see this rookery. To think these birds were nearly extinct. Nice to see all the wildlife. Turtles and alligators too. Definitely worth the time to see

This is an extension of the jungle tour. About half way through head into bird city for a real thrill. You must navigate a hill down to get to it which could be challenging for those who don't walk well. Not really handicapped friendly. Once you are there what a treat it is. Hundreds of Snowy Egrets nesting and chattering... More

Stay a while and watch the egrets with their families. Photograph them taking off and keep an eye out for the gators and turtles.
