Monkey Island Tour from Panama City

172 reviews
Monkey Island lies on Gatun Lake, along the Panama Canal, and is renowned for its large population of monkeys, along with other wildlife. On this tour, set sail on a scenic riverboat cruise around the lake and the Chagres River; look out for wildlife such as slothes, iguanas, and crocodiles; and spot four different types of monkey on the island—mantled howler, white-faced capuchin, Geoffroy’s tamarin, and lemurine owl monkeys.

Relatively quiet casino. Lots of slush machines, which seems to be about 5% occupied. Black Jack $5 minimum. Roulette too. Don’t recall seeing an active craps table. 7% or so cash service charge is a rip off in my opinion.

We stopped by the Bingo Hall to find out the schedule & how things worked & met the cashier by the name Jasmin, WONDERFUL person - can't say much about the rest of the people working there. Our server was a wonderful lady too. After 5:00 PM you buy one get one drink for $5!! - Margaritas, Pina Coladas, Mojitos, etc. They play Bingo way different than those from the USA. Starts at 3:00 PM & the 1st sheet is FREE (it has 6 games) the most pay out for a visitor is $100. We tried to get a member card to be able to get paid better but I believe it was for residents only because we would have to play BING 21 consecutive days & it takes a week or so to get it (depending who you talk with). The young people that sell the Bingo sheets are not too friendly & don't even try to ask them how things works because they really don't care to explain you or help you, like a couple of times our machine went blank & we tried to get help (the games were pay for it) & NOT once did they tried to help, it was more or less "ohhhh well". They have a buffet kind of meal for $4.99 every night after 5:00 PM.

We found the bag that my wife has forgotten it during living in the Casino. Safety people helped us with their poor English. They were very friendly . Credit cards, money , Identification cards and make up bags was ok.

This isn't really a Casino like most people will be used to. The positives - I felt very safe here with all the security. The negatives - be ready to have play constantly slowed or stopped because someone playing is on their &^*( phone. Happened to me 4 times in less than an hour at BlacJack, and 3 times the next night in 30 mins. Also, at one point I decided to play very late (or early) to avoid this, and the Pit Boss/Lady began a conversation with the dealer that lasted the better part of an hour while I was trying to play. Not something I have ever experienced in over 100 casinos around the world. Everyone was nice, friendly, and I have no idea whay they were there, even though they dressed in the casino uniform, too say it was difficult to play cards would be an understatement. Again - folks were nice - but if you are remotely serious about gambling, not really a good environment. I didn't think I was serious until this trip, when I waited, alone, 100 bucks on the table, for my "hit"...only to sit and listen to them talk til they got round to giving me a card.....10-15 mins later. I asked them to please deal cards and talk later? No joy....Happened 15 minutes later and the pit boss was talking to the dealer and texting another player at my table who just sat down. Shame, as it turns out I suck at cards, and if they would have just dealt me cards, probably would have lost a k or 3.May wander in again later, but they don't have many table games - baccarat and 21, and some weird looking multi option poker...and of course roulette....

We spent one night and it was awesome, the rooms are pretty big and comfortable, the wifi works really well, the girl at the front desk gave us as a courtesy a late checkout. The view from the room isn’t the best neither the view from the pool. We take advantage of the brunch that is from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (I’m not 100% sure), offers a variety of plates and includes Mimosas, Sangria, orange juice and Mojitos. The Casino offers slots machines and table games (poker, blackjack, roulette and others), please take into consideration that in Panama there is a tax for the cashout of 5.5% of your winnings. Overall a good hotel, I would definitely stay again.
