All reviews panama canal observation deck fourth floor short film ships passing gift shop watch ships ships pass through the locks viewing area great museum small museum large ships entrance fee engineering marvel visiting panama cruise ship movie
The visitor center not only provides a great view of the ships going through the locks, but show a 20 minute video and has a museum giving you the history behind what you see live. They really do a terrific job.
At US20 per head you get access to a film, which is about Panama's struggle to get control over the Canal Zone rather than the history of how the canal was built, and a museum which gets better as you go up each floor.
We Took Uber there, which was very inexpensive. The entrance to the museum with the restaurant (we had reservations) was $20 pp. There are Four exhibition halls in the museum which portray the history of the canal as well as it’s functioning and international importance....More
We really enjoyed this place, you need to arrive early A.M. (at opening) to see boats going through the locks. The museum is one of the best I have seen, loads of pictures, artifacts, small models, it was truly a great visit.
I know all the stuff about "engineering miracle" etc., and while it was significant to be at such an internationally known historical place, and while we did see a large ship pass through the lock nearest to the observation deck, we basically were a bit...More
The price seems high if you go late just before closing like we did. We had 90 minutes to visit the museum, watch the ships pass through the locks, and there was a short film at the end which we skipped. Escalators used to view...More
Worth the visit. Good educational experience. But in the steep side but worth it in the end. Take the metro 1 to albrook mall then bus 810 straight to the visitors center. Costs about 60 cents. Skip taking a cab.
First.... getting there by UBER or Taxi is the easiest and fastest. But if you prefer to save some money and go by bus.... it’s also quite simple. Take metro to Albrook station (0.35cents) and take bus from Albrook directly to Miraflores Lock (0.25cents). Check...More

I find your question a little confusing ??do you want to go to the visitors center and see the Mira Flores locks and also experience the ride thru the locks and canal. I was only there once but we used the hop on /off bus($34 for one day/$37 for two days) to see most of panama city. You can check their routing and see if it suits you)The Maria Flores has a small museum($) and a grandstand to view ships going thru the Locks. I (and my wife)found the old city very interesting using the self walking guide. Taxi's are very reasonable and everyone uses American $$.
