I visited during COVID days, and pretty much had the entire town to myself. There was still plenty of restaurants, shops, and churches for me to visit, and they followed strict sanitation rules. A place to admire architecture and history.

A visit to Panama City is not complete without stopping in Casco Viejo, the oldl settlement of the city right on the water, surrounded by defensive walls that protected it from unwanted intruders. It has a similar feeling to 'Old San Juan' in Puerto Rico for anyone that has been there. The neighborhood is easy to wander around in for an afternoon and you can become lost wandering the narrow streets among all of the local souvenir shops, art galleries and cafes. There are also a few boutique hotels to stay in if you like Casco Viejo, and lots of restaurants with a variety of international cuisines. …

In fact, there are not many attractive places to experience in Panama City. Maybe 3 - 4. But this is TOP. It reminded me of old San Juan in Puerto Rico. Narrow streets, restaurants, bars, shops .... you definitely need to go for a walk.
