Very Pretty

This is a very pretty cathedral and a nice place to sit out of the heat and reflect on the nice people and places in Panama City.

The entire front of the building was covered in scaffolding and there were no signs to let you know that the cathedral was still open so I just tentatively walked up to the plastic hanging down over the entrance and went in, and I'm glad I did because this is a beautiful cathedral. Super glad I didn't miss this one.

One of the many very old Catholic churches that is worth the visit while in Casco Viejo. As with all the churches there the alters are very impressive.

As others have said, the Cathedral is undergoing extensive renovation. You can see one of the towers and get some peeks at the interior, but don't plan your visit around it. There are several other impressive churches around the old city as well as some good eateries.

The cathedral is located in a small old square, directly opposite the most luxury old hotel of Panama, quite a packed area with small streets. The cathedral itself is under a long renovation period so don't expect much to see inside, outside looking also nothing special.

While visiting Casco Viejo, we stopped by to see this beautiful church. Unfortunately, the left white tower was under restoration and was competely covered by scaffolds. None the less, we really enjoyed the site and the big square right in front of it.

What a well preserved Cathedral in old Panama city. Inside the church is absolutely gorgeous. You are allowed to take photos inside and there isn't any entry charges.

Interesting history of the building and destruction of this church and the steps taken to hide the golden altar from pillaging pirates.

This was a great historical tour that was an easy walk and opportunity for lots of pictures. Glad to see that Panama is spending lots of money restoring these historical structures.
