First, getting to the Chagres River from Panama City is a rough ride. After a half hour, the roads are unpaved in places and there are pot holes aplenty. Thankfully there'd been no rain so we didn't have to contend with mud. Once reaching the river, we boarded boats, really rowboats with motors and because they're low in the water,... More

Visit an Embera Village. Aboriginal people who relocated to help build the Panama Canal have settled in villages they established along local river ways. Incredibly friendly people with fascinating history and lifestyle. Natural plant dye tattoos adorn many people, dance along with the inhabitants to joyous musical entertainment. Pick up from embarkation area in a "canoe" , view wildlife along... More

Jorge made our day very enjoyable and interesting. After he and his driver picked us up in their van, we had an hours drive into the jungle. There we were met by two men from the Embera Village. They took us across the lake and river in their dug out canoe for a 45 minute ride to the village. The... More

Guided by an enthusiastic man but could not understand much of his accent. He showed us a modern museum and ancient ruins.

I really compared tour companies and felt that Anne Gordon's tour was the best and we were not disappointed. You pay a little more and go deeper into the jungle but the villagers were very friendly and sharing a meal and dance and hiking into the jungle to see their natural medicines and enjoying their crafts it was really wonderful.... Our private tour guide Luis Pinto +507 6732 5221 (he was amazing, message him with whatsapp) took us to the Embera Village tour. We were met by two guides, got into a dugout tree canoe, and went for a little ride on the Chagres River, where we a bit of trek to a beautiful waterfall. (bring water shoes) On the... More

This was a good experience from start to finish. I was a little worried it would be "gimmicky", but didn't seem that way at all. Highlights for me were hearing the head of the village talk about their way of life - and the lunch. Really enjoyed watching them cook the fish and plantains. It was DELICIOUS (and beautifully served... More

We had an amazing experience visiting one of the communities, just an hour away from Panama City... What a contrast!!! The people wer so friendly. We were entertained with traditional dancing and encouraged to join in😁 we were proved with lunch of fish and plantains, which was delicious. There is an opportunity to purchase local crafts but it was refreshing... More

We visited as part of our Caravan tour. It is an authentic Indian village. The Indians danced for us and explained their history. The children were adorable and everyone was very helpful and friendly. They sell crafts they make that are beautiful. I got two carvings out of seeds and bought directly from the artist. I also got a temporary... More
