Overview
More
This 265-hectare national treasure is located within Panama City’s Ancon district, and is the only protected area in Central America located within city boundaries. Standing along the Panama Canal’s eastern shore, it’s home to dozens of species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and trees. With lookout points, four well-marked trails, a scenic road and a Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute canopy crane structure, guests can explore on their own. The Park also offers guided tours to groups for a fee (five-person minimum) if booked well in advance.

We spent a few hours hiking the trails at this park. The entrance fee is nominal - I can't remember, but maybe $2/person. We took an easy trail and two moderate trails, which took us about 2 hours. We saw red trogon birds, among others,...More

A tropical rainforest jungle at 10 minutes drive from the city of Panama. Interesting trails to see the wide variety of tropical trees and some wild animals. A must see when in Panama City.

We took the metro to Albrook Station and then paid $3.00 for a three-minute taxi ride to the park. Get there early and take lots of water! It gets very hot very quickly. We had a lovely walk up to the top for a great...More

We went around 8am. It got hot by 10AM. But we saw tree sloths, toucan, butterflies and many bird species. This is an easy ride from town and not to be missed. The view of the city from the top is spectacular.

Go early in the day as it is hot by mid morning. We saw a family of howler monkeys, lots of birds and a deer. WE didn't see any sloths, but apparently (according to locals) sighting a deer is much rarer.

Compared to the rainforest in western Panama or Anton the Metropolitan is not that spectacular. But you can still have a nice time their especially to get some quiet couple of hours and get away from the noisy city. The trails are not so hard...More

We usually go for a walk in the morning with our toddlers. It is inexpensive, some guards are really nice and showed us sloths hidden in the trees. Kids love to observe butterflies, turtles, big ants and monkeys. Not very busy so we are in...More

We were treated to a brief visit to a small part of the Metro Park under the guidance of a birding tour leader. We generated a lot of birds during our morning visit.

Parque Metropolitano is a small slice of rainforest in Panama City. It is part of the National Park system and as such is maintained. It has a nice little welcome centre where you pay. They also seek water. Best time of the day to go...More
