This 265-hectare national treasure is located within Panama City’s Ancon district, and is the only protected area in Central America located within city boundaries. Standing along the Panama Canal’s eastern shore, it’s home to dozens of species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and trees. With lookout points, four well-marked trails, a scenic road and a Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute canopy crane structure, guests can explore on their own. The Park also offers guided tours to groups for a fee (five-person minimum) if booked well in advance.

It's a wonderful rain forest to go hiking and enjoy the view of the city. Going there in the early morning is recommended to see birds and animals. I'm jealous of Panamanians who have such a wonderful forest in a walking distance!

Wonderful tropical forest with walking trails and lots of birds. We saw two and three-toed sloths. Park opens at 6 a.m. We went with a birding guide from Just Adventures Panama. Other birding companies will also take you here.

It was hot so please go early in the morning or later in the day.. the walking/hiking is lovely; a bit up and down hill but not too challenging. We saw a sloth! It was very exciting. We also saw many leaf-cutter ants marching along...More

Rainforest park within the city limits of Panama. $4 entry if you are a foreigner. Several trails to choose from. Many are steep, but you can usually see and hear birds and monkeys, especially in the mornings.

If you love animals, the outdoors, great views, and a little exercise...you must visit this park. We spent a couple hours here and, with the help of the rangers, saw a few sloths, a monkey, some baby raccoons and a few birds. Be sure to...More

I think it costs $4/pp for non Panamanians. A nice hike to the top with wildlife on the way to see. We saw plenty of butterflies. You can see the Panama city and canal from the top

get your hiking shoes on and take a nice stroll thru the park. Talk to the guides first and bring some snacks to do a picnic at the top.

Visiting Metropolitan National Park was one of my favourite adventures. It was only $4 USD to get in. The staff are bilingual and very helpful. We saw 3-toed and 2-toed sloths (with the help of a staff member), fish, turtles, a rainforest crab, lizards, agoutis,...More

The trails were well maintained with bathroom and water stops in a couple of places. There was a wonderful view of the skyline, and we saw a sloth, some kind of large rodent (not sure what it was called) and several colonies of ants.

Take an Uber cab! Tickets at park, not busy at all. Really nice walks with a bit of uneven terrain/hills not too strenous will take 2/3 hours. It really is a jungle in town; hot and sweaty with city views. We saw many birds... More
