This gorgeous and majestic National Theater was built in the early 20th century, and still retains its elegant charm. Today, its stage hosts classical music, theater and dance performances—and they’re incredibly affordable. If you can’t make one of the performances, at least make time to check out the beautifully restored and preserved space.

Located in Casco Viejo --- we were only able to see the exterior because the theater was shut down last year due to structural problems. Local newspaper said that it is supposed to reopen to the public sometime in 2018.

The old part of Panama City, known locally (and on TripAdvisor) as Casco Viejo, is brimming with beautiful old buildings which are bedecked in flags and well-maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our stroll around the area with a self-guided walking tour we found on the internet. One of the stops is the magnificent 100 year old National Theatre building. I understand... It's a beautiful historic building, but needs a little bit of work. Hopefully they will take this building and renovate it to it's older glory. Worth a walk by if you're in Old town

I have visited Teatro nacional twice during the past five years for the Danilio Perez Jazz Festival award events. The first time I sat in the balacony on the third level. These seats were not designed for a person over 6' tall. This past January I again visited but this time I paid extra to be seated in one of... More

I had the pleasure of visiting the Theater for Panama City's International Film Festival. While planning for your visit to Panama City be on the lookout for performances using... More

I always walk by here, and one day, I stopped inside. It was so nice inside, I can't wait to return to Panama and see a production here. Multi-level boxes inside, it looked so ornate. The reason I always walk by here is the water is close and there are several nice mansions nearby including of a famous singer. Once,... More

If you are already visiting Casco Viejo stop by and take a look. Beautiful architecture and very well preserved. It's located close to a charming plaza with several trendy restaurants.

We had some major luck being able to go inside the Teatro Nacional. It is usually closed, but due to a dance recital getting over, we were able to go inside with our tour guide (while doing a city tour). Really really pretty!! Looks like it should be in a movie. Glad we got to see it. Ive traveled a... More
