No one warned us of the huge hike to get there from where taxis and Uber drop off. Had we known, we wouldn’t have bothered.

This memorial's sole purpose is to make one feel humble in front of the areas history. It oozes the ambiance and feel from the Soviet era, and for those who are interested in history-tripping, this is the place to visit. Shock and awe-architecture.

It is certainly worth spending the small extra supplement after visiting the National Museum of Ukrainian History in World War II to go at least to the lower viewing platform to see the incredible views of Kyiv, especially the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
