We chose the free self-guided tour of the underground caves (caskets of important religious figures.) The entire campus is a functioning religious center. Several large cathedrals, living quarters, and belltowers. Be mindful and respectful, especially underground as many will be praying and observing personal time...More

One of the fun things to do in these religious enclaves is to climb the stairs of the bell tower. This is a very strenuous activity and also involves (1) ancient uneven steps and (2) tight spaces.

Visited on a snowy Saturday afternoon. Beautiful grounds in the Monastery, lots of onion domes, and of course the caves. The caves were actually a bit disappointing, but key to the history of the site.

One of the biggest Ukrainian religious sites. The main cathedral was only rebuilt in the 90s following its destruction by German troops in the 40s. Most of the churches are though conserved in their original state. Many important religious figures are buried on the premise...More

This place is huge! But one of the highlights is the microminiature museum. That alone is worth the price of admission. Lots of amazing gold work, frescoes and art. The catacombs are a bit creepy, but fascinating. A highlight of Kyiv.

The main Ukrainian Orthodox centre in the country. I went there on a quiet cold Monday when there were few visitors. Entry price was remarkably cheap. There is a variety of buildings and sites to go into spread over a wide area. The good weather...More

Not sure you can book in advance but the tour Kiosk at the main gate looked like it was open every day and they do personal tours. You shouldn't have a problem.
