The cathedral was built over nine centuries and is a great example of Byzantine and Ukrainian Baroque architecture. The interior contains mosaics and frescoes dating back to the 11th century.

The exterior is more impressive than the interior, but take your time to appreciate the ongoing restoration work and wander around

Looks interesting from the outside, but the people working at the cathedral are a bit unfriendly. You have to pay extra in order to enter the cathedral.

The outside of the cathedral is magnificent. Inside, although there is a lot of history, I felt it to be drab and lacking spirit.

We only went into the bell tower but more extensive tours were available. Very good views of the rest of the cathedral and of city from the top

This is a beautiful cathedral. However, the exhilaration of seeing it is somewhat dampened by having to pay for every area individually - the Nell tower, the grounds and inside. Then of course there’s the gruff nature of the gate keepers.

The church is in a compound. Both have entrance fees. One fee for compound (mostly garden) second is for the museum (the church). Fees not expansive and is a nice place for some local sightseeings.

Wow! Why doesn’t the world know about this. The Cathedral is amazing. Built in 1011 and well preserved. I don’t recommend seeing other buildings.

Top tip - as always in Ukraine - pay in small denomination notes - they have trouble making change. But it's worth it!
