Overview
More
For many years, The Central Officers’ House of the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains one of the leading cultural centers in the city of Kyiv. The building in NeoEmpire style was initially built in 1914-1915 as a military flight school; later was repeatedly reconstructed up till 1931. In the early post-WWII years, when the whole city of Kyiv was in ruins, and there were practically no audience halls, The Officers’ House was used as a leading concert hall of the city. Much has changed since then in the cultural life of the capital, and many new concert halls had been built, but the tradition of The Officers’ House to held of various concerts and exhibitions are still alive. The House has a large hall for 1000 spectators, two lecture halls, a small room, library and about other 150 rooms that can be used as training and exhibition centres.

In case you want to feek Soviet style atmosphere - this is the place! In addition to shows which might be of some interest to different audiences, you shoud check the restaurant in the basement, it is a top cherry on the place.

The building is constructed in 1931. Now is used as a concert and theater scene. Not has a very modern design, but it is interesting from a historical point of view. For foreign visitors could be interesting as a sample of the Stalin era architecture.

There is nothing exiting for casual tourists. This is just historical building. There are little museum and good place for conference or concerts.

The building is not a tourist site thus probably should not be very interesting to most people visiting Kiev. However, there is an interesting military museum about 100m away on Kriposnyi Lane which is the side street to the right of the entrance.

I wouldn't make a special trip for this site. But if you're nearby I would check it out. I thought it was a cool looking building.
