I spent time over two days reflecting on the significance of this area, and the number of people who lost their lives for freedom. If you go to Kiyv you cannot say you truly visited unless you come here

Main square in Kiev. Beautiful buldings and column. I was there in november, Ukrainian people held ceremonies connected with commemoration of the Great Hunger between 1932 and 1932. WHole square was filled with candles and people. Great view, very touching.

This being the square that revolutions passed through is a must visit while ones stay in Kiev. The square still has visible signs of the fights that took place over there.

Come to Maidan Square if you want to feel the revolutionary feeling, the feeling that drives people to fight for the better future. Come to discover many mysteries, about which not even every local knows. Go up to the "Globus" shopping mall in the evening, and see the charming view of the main square and the central part of the... More

I'm going to try keep this short and sweet to get to my point. If in the square feel free to observe the beautiful buildings and architecture but if you stop for pictures be aware who's around you because as soon as you get out a modern western cell phone and act like a tourist you put the many people... I've seen a lot of Independence Square as I have rented an apartment very close to here. The architecture is imposing on 3 sides, but the 4th is open before you reach the Ukraine Hotel. If it is wet you can explore the various Globus shopping centres underneath the square and get from one end to the other without getting... More

Once in Kiev you will visit the square at any case. Being here, think on the violent events that happened on the square.

I have to say that Ukrainians have done something so big that will leave a trace in the History. So I think it's important to visit the square and moreover the little monuments that the people created for the victims of Euromajdan.
