A very interesting museum, though the exhibitions are presented in a way that isn't very informative for visitors who don't know Romanian traditions well. A guide book, or ideally a guide, is recommended to make your visit worthwhile.

The guide books rave about this museum, but I found it quite disappointing. This is in part because I rented the English audio guide. The supercilious English voice almost immediately began to preach at me in a really off-putting way about the importance of Christian...More

Romania is a fast developing country and things are changing fast. All the more reason then to keep a special place in the capital to show visitors the old Romania. The museum is a collection of mainly wooden rural cottages with some of the artefacts...More

The emphasis on attributing everything to religion detracts from a display with promise. The audio tapes are not up to museum quality. The collection of Communist material in the basement is not translated to English nor explained. Save your time. Go to the Village Museum...More
