if you like seeing regional costumes this is a delight to see!
Dec 2019
The museum building has a wonderful front facade... it is very cheap to get in... it's not overly large but the costumes and head attire it displays are very much worth seeing.

The detailed embroidery on the head dresses and costumes defies belief in some cases.... stunning to see. Great variety of costumes on display.

The ground floor had an interesting display of artifacts from around the globe...many bought back by two intrepid Croatian explorers.

We spent just over an hour in the museum and thoroughly enjoyed all we saw.

Interesting for families

An Art Nouveau building from 1903.
This is an eclectic collection of costumes, household and musical instruments. The textiles and folk dress from all over Croatia are truly amazing.
On the main floor are artifacts from Africa and South America!

Well worth it

We came across this museum by accident and it was worth going in. It was a very striking building. There was a fabulous exhibition about 2 brothers who were explorers. They even worked for the king of Ethiopia. Very well presented.

Another fabulous Ethnography Museum
Oct 2017
This was the third ethnography museum I visited on this trip (one in Slovenia, the other in Dubrovnik). This one was excellent. Great descriptions (in English) of the different costumes -- really amazing things, all beautifully displayed. Make certain that you stop at the museum shop for some of the most beautiful souvenirs, locally crafted.

A bit chaotic

It is an interesting museum, however stuff is a bit random and not well described. The local costumes/textiles are very well displayed. There is also a great exhibit on bikers and their dogs which I thought was absolutely great.

Well worth a visit

We visited here to get a feel for Zagreb and Croatia and enjoyed the exhibitions. The museum is well laid out and has some good information. The cost was very reasonable and the staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us advice on the best way to go around the building. All in all a very good museum.

Great value
Mar 2017 • Couples
We wandered in here as we wanted to visit one museum whilst on a day visit to Zagreb and felt this might give us the best overview of Croatian history as our preferred choice of the history museum appeared to be shut.
We went up to the first floor, and watched some videos showing a carnival and dancers in traditional costumes before looking round the exhibits from the four main areas of Croatia. Good explanations in English covered a lot of ground.
We then visited the international exhibits downstairs mainly gathered from the travels of Croatian explorers or scholars. Interesting but much preferred the upstairs which focused on Croatia.
All this for a very modest entry fee of HRK20.00

Probably of more interest to Croatians than to foreigners.

I wasn't quite as impressed with this place as other TA reviewers have been.

Pros:
- easy to find
- very nice staff
- cheap entry fee (15 kuna)

Cons:
- somewhat dimly lit
- many artefacts in glass containers, so reflected glare made taking photographs difficult
- artefact labelling seemed to lack uniformity; some English, but mostly Croatian
- in some instances, artefact identification by a 'map' - all in Croatian - stuck onto the display case rather than by identification tag next to each artefact

Probably of more interest to Croatians than to foreigners.

Museum that gives you a glimpse into old world
Oct 2016
This is a very nice museum keeping the feel of the old and showing you how people lived in the past. Go visit while in Zagreb and you might be surprised.
