The shop on the first floor is actually quite nice. They have wine, souvenirs and clothing from all over Bulgaria which was quite nice and fairly priced. We did not enter the museum since it was about to close when we got there but appeared...More

What you would expect is a kind of overview, the history and highlights of Bulgarian painting. Sorry to say, this is not what you'll find. All of the space is occupied by temporary exhibitions, and mostly not even of Bulgarian artists. What is intesting is...More

Entry 3 BGN ( senior ) - photography allowed ... Interesting but not very exciting exhibition of modern-day ( 20th C ) artists in a very empty space. Definitely worthy of a visit if you are keen to study Bulgarian painting. Guards are friendly if...More

I liked this smallish collection of Bulgarian art. Lots of stairs and I did not see an elevator. Enjoy.

The National is a bit rundown...Didn't like that much....not so interesting...I'd pass on that. They house a very poor collection and the gallery needs a lot of refurbishment.

Beautiful gallery with amazing pieces...well worth a visit, take at least 2 hours to wander around. Recommend on a rainy day!
