The monument was to be a celebration of Bulgarian history, constructed in just 8 months and unveiled in 1981 on the 1300 year anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian state. When you look at it today you will see a total run down monument of which the main steel construction still stands and fences are/were needed to protect the... More

No matter what you think of it, you wont see anything like it anywhere else. I wrongly thought it had been built like it looks today as some sort of 80's modern art. But apparently not, most of it has fallen down since it was built. I don't know whether its says more about the building standards of the communist... More

Maybe one of the most strange installation I've never seen. It matches an industrial and modern art located on a huge park. Even if I didn't like it by itself it fits with the whole park.

I stumbled upon this monument when lost around midnight trying to find a hidden nightclub and after 24 hours I still find myself affected by it. "Derelict," as used by a few other people is a near perfect word to describe it. People have to understand, although I can almost guarantee it will be gone within the year, that this... More

This piece of oxidizing old metal used to celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Bulgaria's creation. However the government hasn't touched it since its creation. So it's in horrifyingly terrible shape. It's a pile of rust that looks as if it has just been taken out of a scrapyard with graffitis all over it.

I feel for the sculptor of this eyesore. When it was built, I am sure that somebody loved it other than him. But times change and the consensus is this thing has to go. Right now it is a crumbling remnant of the ugliness of the Soviet era.

I never thought I could be so appaled by a monument. This must be the most ugly thing I ever saw. Just had to stop and truly gaze at the level of dreadfulness this thing reflects. Can't imagine what was in the mind of people who made this. And the worst part is that it's surrounded by very nice park,... More

I have no idea what the Communists were thinking. This is one of the worst looking monument I've ever seen. And to add insult to injury - it's being renovated nowadays, so it's even uglier. Avoid. nothing to see here.

Worth seeing, just to amaze at how such an ugly structure could be designed and erected. Located next to national Culture palace - also a bit of an eyesore.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. This is an old and ugly monument - nothing interesting to see.
