About
The Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide 1992 – 1995 was founded in July 2016 as an initiative to sustain the memory of all the victims of the war that lasted from 1992- 1995. The founders of the museum themselves are victims who survived the war. Together with young people they have made the museum a reality and keep it working. The museum exhibit contains a variety of photos and personal items that hold the stories of the war victims. The museum staff has given their best to transfer those stories into written pieces that proudly stand next to every item. In order to make the visit more authentic and realistic, the museum presents simulations of a mass grave and solitary confinement. Keeping the memory alive is an important factor in avoiding genocides and massacres in the future. History is something we must remember!

- After W1 contributionknowledgableThe museum well presents the history of events of 1992-1995. Rich exhibition, few documentaly movies. So exhibits shock more then others. For me it was a minuture concentration camp and little "rape house". Don't forget about the phone in the end where you can hear the testimonies of criminals and victims of the war. I highly recommend every one to come here and experience the stories of people who survived the war. I wish people would stop fighting each other. But I guess it is wishful thinkingVisited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 September 2023
- Bard I1 contributionWell organized museum with lots of infoIf you want to hear personal stories about the conflict in the Balkans in the 1990's, this is the museum to visit. There are stories from different people explaining what they experienced. The stories are very moving and emotional. I had many extra questions that I asked Alen, the museum guide, and he was able to answer them with in-depth answers and perspectives. Well organized information with many artifacts, would recommend.Visited May 2022Written 1 June 2022
- Jeff KPittsburgh, Pennsylvania1,847 contributionsVery WorthwhileThere are several different museums that address the Bosnian War. We visited this one and Gallery 11/07/95 and felt like we covered it pretty well. This museum was very good and well organized. They do a very good job of presenting the information in a way that you can tour on your own. You can spend hours here but you can gain a good understanding in a lot less time. We spent about 45 minutes here.Visited September 2021Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2021

Informative museum, I learnt a lot. It is quite similar to the siege of Sarajevo museum so if you are short on time you could just do one.

The Museum was very interesting and informative. It doesn't take too much time to go through this exhibition and I learned a lot about the history of the Bosnian war.
The exhibition shows the real history what happend. So maybe it is not the right place for small children or people who have problems with brutality because some photos or exhibits are pretty tough.

Thank you for your review, usually people with families come to our museum without any problem and also we have a room in our museum where children can draw, write and spend their time while parents go through the rest of exhibition.

The museum is a very interesting one, it doesn't take too much time to see the whole exhibition. It is a must if you want to get some information about the history of the country and the terrible things that happened during the war.

It was such a great experience, it made me very sad but hopeful, what the Bosnian people have been through is so sad, and how they make it through is so hopeful, the place is so recommended!!

Even though I was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this experience was a revelation to me.
I will use a quote from the museum entrance : “ Here the living are silent, while the dead speak! “ it trully is so. Amela, the girl working at the museum was a joy to listen to. A MUST to visit!

It’s a gathering of images and stories from the living survivors.
It’s a must see during your visit in Sarajevo

What a demise of helpless innocent people comes to life when you visit this museum. Not recommended for children.
