Interesting war memorial

This is very close to the Bolshoi Theater. I didn't go onto the square as it looked like there was a changing of the guard. There is an eternal flame there as well.

My apartment is in one of those big buildings in the background, and the square is an ideal landmark for visitors. The Metro is accessible under the monument, and Gorky Park is just around the corner. A must-see while in Minsk

It's not the place where you could etertian a lot or spend much time - Victory Square is a spot in one of the busiest avenues of the capital - Nezavisimosti ave and it's rather simple. It's a good sample of the soviet memorials - grey ganite, red stars, USSR voctory order at the top of the obelisk. Dispate of... More

Just a nice stroll from the city centre to this square. The pictures tell it all. A nice, simple and very soviet style square in rememberance of the Great Patriotic War.

It is a round square with an obelisk and an eternal flame in the heart of the city. To get there you should first go underground or come to Ploshcha Peramohi metro station and then take stairs. What you will see is a granite obelisk with 4 sides and one relief on each of them made by four different sculptors... More

Victory Square is located in the centre of Minsk at the intersection of Independence Avenue and the streets Zakharova. It is a memorial to those who perished World War 2, known in Belarus as the Great Patriotic War. The square and obelisk was constructed in 1954, and an eternal flame was added in 1961. The obelisk is about 40 meters... More

A very beautiful and yet somber place to visit, this is a World War 2 monument, there is a large pillar similar to the Washington monument in USA but on each side of the monument beautiful and detailed carvings of the struggle to defeat the Nazi invasion and the final victory, each side tells through its artwork a different portion... You can't miss this obelisk jutting up towards the clouds on the main drag in Minsk. Take note of the intricate details : Belarusian symbols amidst the Soviet ones. This square is worth seeing, take a moment to approach the pillar and look around.

Victory Square is very big with buildings of similar picturesque design around its perimeter. The Square is dominated by a huge 38-40 metres tall obelisk, a memorial to the country's war dead. Victory Square with its eternal flame is a place of pilgrimage for the people of Belarus wishing to remember the millions that died in the Great Patriotic War... More
