Tirana is not a tourist mecca. I found this museum a very nice way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. I knew little of the history of Albania and the visit was quite informative. I read the Encylopaedia Britannica's history of Albania (on my computer) when I got back to my room and that put the exhibits... More

Built in the Old Russian style it has many exhibits. Being the National museum it holds much of the country's treasures. Gives a great perspective to first time visitors.

Really interesting museum. Huge and imposing stately edifice that towers over Skenderbeg Square, you get a great view of the square from inside. The front of the building is dominated by a huge, beautiful mosaic. Huge array of exhibits of Albanian culture and history and even though not all have English captions, it is still a very worthwhile place to... More

An excellent museum. Modern spacious and full of interesting exhibits documenting the history of Albania from ancient times to the present. The only draw back is that few exhibits have translations, although there are some in English, some in German and some in French, but the majority in Albanian only. No doubt as tourism develops in the country this will... More

This place can be considered museum only because of the name as there are very few historical artifacts present and they are very poorly exhibited. Do not waste your time paying a visit to this museum.

I highly recommend tourists to visit the National Museum of History. It's well organized chronologically from the earliest human settlements 25000 years ago down to recent history

Huge Museum with lots of interesting exhibits from 1400 through 20th century. I think there is not enough exhibited and explained of the communist era. Also a lot of exhibits are not English subtitled. No entry fee.

Good displays, fairly honest warts and all history of Albania. More honest than similar museums in many countries.

A must see, if you are interested to learn the history of this great country. Not well organized but with a little imagination you will learn plenty of things for the whole history of Albania.

This is a nice museum with very reasonable admission fee. On the last Friday of every month, it is free to public. You may spend a couple of hours and will come out with a much better understanding of the Albanian history and culture. Try to get a guide to walk you through the halls, this way you can move...
