I don't understand the No Photos policies of most museums. People travel 1000's of miles/kilometers and have no hard proof. The exhabits were interesting and I'm glad I visited.

We knew this museum would include a lot of Social Realism but I also expected art from before communism and after 1990. As it was it was really almost only propaganda art. Some stunning pictures.

We enjoyed walking through the galleries and seeing works by Albanian artists. I was most taken by the works from teh communist period that looked like propaganda posters. Very enlightening. (Air conditioning would have been nice to have though!)

I'm very fond of this type of museum. Not particularly because of the quality of the paintings but because of the importance to save these relics of the past for future generations. The historical theme tableaux and the socialist realism never cease to amaze me....More

Some of the most stunning artwork I've seen up close, particularly from Kilica, Ceka and Hila. And only a few bucks to enter!

Very pleasant well put together small painting and sculpture exhibits. Well worth a visit with Albanian artists, Socialist realism, and Stalin and Lenin out back.

... it's pretty darn nice. The highlight of the collection are paintings from the socialist realist period of the Communist regime, and the museum has some nice items. If this is your cup of tea, no better place in the region to see this style....More

I decided to stop by the museum while out walking in Tirana. It's a small museum, made smaller by closing a couple of galleries for new exhibits (this was in June 2017). The was an exhibit with works by a contemporary painter - Arben Golemi....More

There is one gallery with a changing exhibition plus the permanent collection. Really interesting artworks from the communist era. Worth the time. Note that, like many placesn Albania, entry is half price for age 60 and over!
