Country house museum with small Japanese garden attached. Three or four discrete exhibitions, including permanent ones of Figari and Blanes and then other Uruguayan painters, and a temporary one of Lacy Duarte (who seems to have a monopoly on exhibitions in Montevideo this month!) The...More

The museum is free and has different types of paintings. It is really small but very cozy. Definetly worth a visit. Behind the museum there is the japanes garden and not far from there, there is the botanical garden.

Perhaps it was a the price (free), or the fact it was air conditioned or it was the main exhibit when we were there, but this place was a treat. Normally not big on museums of this type, I went a wee bit bit begrudgingly....More

Please do not visit this museum with high expectations. It is small but there are several very worthwhile pieces of Latin American art. It is an eccentric little museum but worth visiting for the art lover with an open mind.

Small museum with 4 galleries of paintings. One dedicated to Blanes and the others to rotating works. There is no charge but a box for donations. The major Blanes paintings portray significant events in Uruguayan history. The Japanese garden in the grounds behind the museum...More
