We hike here very early in the morning. The route is steep up and down and somewhat uneven but not difficult for in shape sixty year olds, not fully acclimatized to the altitude. The view across the town to the ruins is worth every step. There was no charge either.

The entrance is very inconspicuous and off the beaten path, but we did this one afternoon before we left Ollantaytambo because we didn't want to venture too far from the town. Its a bit of a strenuous hike, but the views from the top are breath taking and there are some cool ruins to check out. I'd do it again... More

Access to Pinkuylluna is down one of the cobble alleys off of the main square. This is a great hike with amazing views of Ollantaytambo

Not an easy climb in areas but should be doable for most. Wear good sturdy shoes and if you're afraid of heights you may want to only attempt the lower part of the trail. It's a free trail, although not easy to find the entry gate down the long narrow street (look for the above eye level sign with Pinkuylluna... More

Heading from the Ollanta train station...Ollanta Ruins are on the left and Pinkuylluna Mountain Granaries are on the right side from the Main square.. Has fantastic views from the top...especially you can see and appreciate the Ollanta Arch ruins from the top...Good prep for hiking Wayna Picchu at Machu Picchu...The walk up to the granaries is steep and the path... Really great hike, though definitely tough in some places. Really prepared us for Huayna Picchu hike the next day. Beautiful views - must visit in Ollanta

Not many Inca ruins are easily accessible and free but this one is. Incredible ruins in the side of a mountain that is a short climb up from town in Ollantaytambo.

The walk up to the granaries is very steep and the path unprotected. My partner had a panic attack on the path, we descended before reaching the granaries. Only attempt if confident with very steep unroped trails. Btw I do not agree with a previous comment that this is a 'free alternative to the Ollantaytambo archaeological park'. The Olly ruins... If you can only see one Ruin here then go to the larger Ollantaytambo Ruins, but if you have some extra time and enjoy a good hike, explore this area. We went with our six year old and physically she was fine but she slipped and almost had a horrendous fall - so please be careful hiking this with younger... More

This is a good climb if you're in shape. The structures are modest and you should learn the history in advance to get the most from your visit. Some great views. You enter via a gate that you need to watch for. No admission charge, allow about two hours.
