Yep it was as good as, and better than I hoped. Just getting to Machu Picchu itself is an adventure - train, bus journey up the switchbacks and a little hike. Simply brilliant. We spent two days exploring the site (staying over at Aguas Calientes)....More

MP is now quite touristy and not very well controlled - they let in much more than 2500 visitors a day unlike what they claim, as a result of which everywhere is quite noisy and people don't quite follow the rules of the place. All...More

I visited last month and our G Adventures guide told us that the worst time to visit Machu Picchu is February because it is the rainiest month and the roads become very dangerous. Not only that but a rained out trip can... More

How "in shape" do you have to be? I can walk with no problem. Climbing might be a little harder but am looking at the altitude also. Does this play a big role in breathing and difficulty with exertion. My husband and I are in our mid 50s and not big exercise buffs!
