Located west of the main square, this sacred temple is known for its huge walls and three trapezoidal-shaped windows through which the sun's rays would pass illuminating the "Sacred Plaza" beyond.

This was another part of the Machu Picchu site that is part of their culture. If you take a guided tour you will see this along with the sundial used by the ancient Incas.

The temple is just another example of Incan architecture. Perfectly cut stones. Right next to the sundial, these windows might have held religious significance.

This was one of the highlights of our guided tour, a purposeful room worth visiting. See the true colour of the sun in a carved stone basin!
