If you have one day in Machu Picchu and can not get into Huayna Picchu - climb this in the afternoon. It is a three (3) hour round trip and a long walk - not really a hike. It is super fun and beautiful on a half clear day.

Follow the signs to the Temple of the 3 Windows and find one of the best areas to take photographs of all the ruins. Tip: Clap your hands over the cliff and hear the clearest echo.

You can peer out of these three windows and see the valley below and imagine the rituals that may have taken place at this site.

How they lined their structures up to coincide with annual movements of the sun and moon is incredible. Read about the significance of the window placement before going to appreciate the Incas as builders and astronomers.

Located near the top and unfinished this temple should really be named the temple of the three worlds as that is what the three windows represented but the original discoverer of Machu pichu was not an archaeologist and didn't know better. Be sure to look for the marks of the exterior walls on how much the stones were to be... More

The Inca had about 14 wall construction styles, with the most precise and refined reserved for the most sacred locations. This was one of those. It is mind boggling.

All of Machu Picchu requires concentration and orientation. Here is another example of a special place that needs serious instruction from your guide. It is not just another Inca structure.
