We went to the palace yesterday to see the changing of the guard. We went early to get a good position to photograph the event. I knew that there were railings all around the Palace and had intended to put my telephoto lens through the railings. Unfortunately the police outside the Palace do not allow you to even approach the... More

The plaza and the Presidential Palace are within walking distance of each other. We enjoyed walking around the plaza with its fountain and colorful buildings. The area is easy walking and across the street is the palace. There is a lot of things to see in the plaza and the area. There is a lot of police presence in the... More

We did not visit this Palace. I am not sure if visitors are allowed in, but if in Lima, one must view it from the outside. This palace is the official residence of the Peru's president. The Plaza de Armas offers the visitor views of several historic buildings.

Spent a delightful morning touring the Palacio de Govierno in Lima. Very small group on the VIP tour. Security is tight and your will need your passport to enter the Palacio. Excellent English-speaking tourguide.

Knowing a little bit about the insane history of Peruvian presidents and the maintained corruptions and political powers, it was very cool to see the presidential palace in the main square!

Glad I made it for the changing of the guard ceremony. Very impressive and entertaining. Not sure I would have needed to see it if not for that ceremony.

We watched the changing of the guard at noon, but go a little early to enjoy the music from the band. It was really hot the day we were there, so wear a hat or buy an umbrella from a vendor, as we did. The longer we stood there, the more we appreciated their stamina in those uniforms in the... More

If you have the opportunity to stand outside the gate, the policia are accommodating to allow you to step up to the front of the line of people and snap a few photos of the Changing of the Guard. Don't just stay in back. Need to see. very impressive.
