The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI holds the most representative art...

The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI holds the most representative art collection in Peru, tracing 3,000 years of history from the earliest Andean civilizations until modern times. Known as the Palacio de la Exposición, the building that is now home to the museum is located at the entrance to the Lima's historic center and is one of the earliest and most important works built using the new technique of cast-iron construction. On the second floor you will find 34 recently renewed galleries with a selection of the most important works of our collection. MALI has an active program of temporary exhibitions throughout the year which covers the highlights of local and international art. The temporary exhibition galleries, as well as the Café MALI, store, auditorium, library and education area, are located on the first floor. ***Free admission every Thursday from 3:00 P.M.***

This is a must see. A beautifully arranged exposition of the history and artifacts of the Peruvian peoples, most impressive! Could have spent 2-3 days just in this place!

A lovely museum with a great collection of art, from pre-colombian to contemporary. The 20th-century section is very strong and they always have great exhibitions. And their restaurant is highly recommended--a nice place of calm in the midst of chaotic downtown.

Attracted by the looks of the interiour and exhibitions hosted at the time, it was a well spent Sunday afternoon. Wasn't too impressed with the placeas I was expecting to see more for the price (30 soles/person). Well organised, beautiful interior, well aligned exhibitions, not too crowded.

If you want a 2- to 3-hour introduction to the history of Peru, visit the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), which re-opened in 2015 following an extensive renovation. The highlight is the permanent exhibition, which consumes the entire second floor and presents art from each major epoch in the history of Peru, including major periods before the conquest by... Went to this museum as close to the Sheraton Hotel where we were staying. Expected a lot of art in the conventional sense and were surprised to see the extensive collection of early Peruvian artifacts, including Pottery, textiles, gold, etc. The 'Cusco' style of paintings section was also very extensive. Spent a good many hours slowly walking around the well... More

Spent a few hours here. Interesting and well written information in both Spanish and English - and a great way to show what role art has played in the development of society. Really interesting and a great space worth visiting. The shop is not very interesting (for someone who's really interested in museum shops).

If you,ve been to other art galleries in South America this one wont rate highly. I say art, but Mali has ceramics, beds, cupboards et al. Many portraits of famous Spanish guys wives, none very good. There is one excellent item which the painting depicting the death of an Inca warrior with Pizarro standing by. As no one knew what... More
