When you are in Lima you cannot miss Miraflores. It is the most modern part of the city. They have great restaurants and great places to go out in the evening. I would suggest staying at a airbnb appartment with pool. prices are very reasonable...More

Miraflores is the more upscale are of Lima. I spent about 4 days here and it was a good area to be in. Close to all different types of restaurants and it didn't hurt that I did well at the two casinos nearby !!!

Escape the (wonderful) chaos of Lima central, & catch a cab or bus down to Miraflores (we walked as needed time on our legs for an Inca trek - ~1.5 hours). We strolled along the cliff top paths - through immaculate gardens & parks -...More

This is the high end sector of Lima. Restaurants, nice hotels, and beach views. It is much safer than other parts of Lima. This is where you should stay and dine to experience the better side of Lima. With that said, other places in Peru...More

This area of Lima has a lot to offer ruins, shopping and a ton of restuarants. Do not hire a guide or take a tour. Get a driver for the day and do it all yourself.

We love staying in Miraflores. Wherever you are there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Good for couple as well as families. Very safe.

Ok the old town has its charms and quaint hotels and traditional restaurants but Miraflores has the sea and a sense of self confidence with some cool bars and restaurants and interesting retail opportunities. Head for the parks and gardens and join the joggers and...More

I am planning on traveling to Lima and Cusco in late May. We are concerned about the condition of both Lima and Cusco in light of the recent rains and floods. Indeed our hotel has also told us of water shortages, etc. What I am MOST concerned about are tour operators that insist that everything is fine, you go, and then they pull a switch of the cities you will be visiting, tell you its impossible to get to Machu Pichu for whatever reason and hand you a couple of complimentary waters. Has anyone gone to Lima and Cusco in the very recent past and managed a successful trip in seeing Lima, Cusco and Machu Pichu?

Hi, I just got back from Lima on April 26 and everything was great. We also visited Cuzco and surrounding areas, Machu Picchu, Ica, Paracas, Pisco and Nazca earlier in the month and did not have any problems. When I left... More

Just arrived to Lima, staying in Milaflores. Any suggestions for the new year eve? Better rooftop bars or beach locations? Where to see fireworks ?

The JW Marriott is lovely. Not sure they have a bar on an upper level though. Maybe just take a stroll along the water. Should be fun!!
