My boyfriend and I went for a weekend and it was AMAZING! We went through a great affordable trekking company, TrekkingPeru that was S./160 soles per person ($47) and we went on a holiday weekend so the prices may even be cheaper. It was a two-day hike. The trails are a little challenging but believe me when I tell you... More

If you like walking for hours and enjoy unusual places away from crowds this is definitely worth it, don't expect more than amazing rock formations and breathtaking views.

we took a microbus from Lima to chosica, and another bus from chosica to San Pedro de casta (see the lonely planet's instructions of how to get there) it was cheap, gorgeous and completely unexpected! The town is cute and quaint and unlike any other place I saw in Peru. This is a good 1 or two day trip- we... More

Marcahuasi is a popular weekend destination for those wishing to get away from the busy city, 4 hr away from Lima. It is a pre-Incan site that is believed to have cosmic energy, and some say tied to aliens. I went with Mochileros Peru, a group of 15 for a camping experience. Went in July 2015, and once you arrive... More

Great for a short weekend getaway from Lima. It was quite easy to find bus transportation to the base of the park from Lima and back for around 25 soles. The marcahuasi park itself is quite beautiful but gets really cold at night. Remember there is no food at the top so pack wisely! There is a discount to the... More

Buy yourself a good camera and go there! Now! The ride there in my 4WD car took me 3 hours from Lima. The road is not in best shape, so if you go in a regular 2WD car or in one of the buses, it most likely will take you longer. Nevertheless, the drive is worth every minute as it... More

First off, I would like to suggest that you get some background on the weather in the part of the country. We went on February 8th and 9th which is considered the one of the rainy months in that area. From what the locals in San Pedro de Casta told us, the rainy months are typically January, February, and March,... More

This is not for everyone. If u jst like comfort and 5 4 stars hotels, then is not for you, but if u like adventure, see the picturesque towns and villages close to Lima, this is a great adventure, great hiking and awesome views from Lima you have to take Carretera Central to Chosica then to Santa Eulalia pass Santa... I was there ! Since there were too many buses changed I took a taxi to the hotel . We have negotiated strongly and managed to 130 USD roundtrip . Many will ask 200 USD The biggest crooks are taxi drivers in Lima you will always overcharged you ! For a journey of 40 km on a beach one called... More
