A beautiful old town to walk around and experience some authentic atmosphere. Some have suggested that it is not safe after dark but it didn't seem too bad to us. It's very busy so you just take the normal precautions. It is certainly far removed...More

It was lovely to walk around this area and although at the time we were there, there were riot police on most corners we felt safe. There were plenty of inexpensive restaurants serving tasty food and we enjoyed the many historical buildings at this location....More

Very clean. Very well run. This isn't Europe but it's got a lot of history and didn't feel as touristy as I expected. Our guide was fantastic and our tour company Coltur was great. Lima appears in a building boom. US Military was all over...More

The historic part of Lima is nice and for South American norms , interesting. Nice little museums that depict the history of Peru and its rich Mayan culture. The building are all well maintained, and most of them are free to visit. But Lima is...More

Lima isn't famous for it's sights, but the central historic district offers quite a few gems. It's easy to walk around, which will be quicker than taking a taxi through the never ending mire of snarled traffic. The areas surrounding Plaza Mayor & Plaza Martin...More

Much of the area is foot traffic only, but some great old balconies, buildings, and more to see. The plaza is super clean and open. The Presiden't mansion is a sight to see although you can't get into the building. Great walks around the district,...More

Not particularly attractive imo. We had a good guide (Miguel ) who talked about Lima as a local - the people, the politics, the economy etc which was exellent - really interesting. The tour of the city itself was a secondary backdrop to this.

We took a few hour tour of central Lima. Loved all the old architecture in the buildings. Worth time and money to go see.

Old Lima is filled with interesting buildings, history, police, and tourists. All for good reason. A visit here should be a major part of any visit to Lima. It's interesting all by itself, just walk around and look. And then there are all the interesting...More

Like most travellers I stayed in Miraflores. The Centro Historico is very pretty but we were advised to give it a miss after dark.
