My friend and I were very lucky to find La Chacra Iquitos while traveling in Peru. We took a day trip to the farm with the owner Eloisa. Since we do not speak Spanish we were very relieved to learn that Eloisa has a great command of the English language, which allowed us to learn so much on the tour. We toured the gardens and picked amazing exotic fruits from the trees on the farm and in the jungle. Eloisa is a local farmer and she gave us a cooking class in the beautiful outdoor kitchen, it was super cool to see how farmers in the Amazon traditionally prepare their food..on an open fire! The environment was very peaceful and pristine, the farm is far enough from the city to feel relaxed and away from it all, but it's not so isolated that you need to hike all day to get to it, great for the day trip. We felt extremely welcome and well cared for and hope to return for an overnight sometime, the rooms look very nice!

I stayed at La Chacra Iquitos during a trip to Peru in August 2015 - apologies for the slight delay in writing my review (it was part of my journey to South America -I also went to Columbia and Brazil), and I must say it exceeded my expectations. During my time at La Chacra I experienced what life was like at the Eco lodge, it really is a beautiful magical place. I went on a night jungle trek, a day jungle trek followed by a boat ride up the Amazon river (passing Belem on the way), I went fishing, Prepared some local dishes with Eloisa (or at least I tried) and took in the local surroundings. All in all, you have to experience this place for yourself. Both Greg and Eloisa went out of their way to make sure i was comfortable and had everything I needed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would not hesitate to recommend this place. One thing I forgot to mention is that its a quiet and peaceful place great for unwinding...so get yourself there before its discovered by everyone else! I wish Greg and Eloisa all the best for the future... Regards, AC.

I stayed at La Chacra for a few weeks. Its is a truly beautiful place. I had a great experience there learning about working and farming in a tropical environment. Gregory and Eloisa who run La Chacra are exteemly lovely people and I very much enjoyed spending time with them. If you go to Iquitos this is a great place to visit and get involved with a project that is helping the local community.
