The Amazon Golf Course is a difficult nine hole adventure with a par 5. It's not so much birdies and eagles; more like boas in the rough, caiman sunning in the sand traps, piranhas lurking in the water holes. It is the only course in the world where golfers are issued a machete to carry in their golf bag. Please, avoid the anaconda. The Amazon Golf Course is Pay and Play Golf at $25 for 18 holes, includes 12 balls, clubs, and machete, additional balls $1 per ball.

I loved my day at the golf course in Iquitos. The clubhouse, where I got clubs and balls, has some rooms for rent, so I stayed. Upstairs, a couple of hammocks and chairs allowed me to sit and watch others golf for a while before I decided to try it myself. I´m no golfer, but once I got out there... More

Go and play the golf course here if you are rich, easily pleased, and/or have nothing better to do. Your 75 soles clearly doesn't go into up keeping the course - the greens are so bad it is like putting in the rough. HOWEVER, you are in poor country and this is understandable. If you are looking to play a... More

This does not resemble and "golf course" I have ever played. The fairway had very little grass but what it did have was about 5 inches high. The green were about like a fairway should be. You can strike a put that would go 40 feet on a real green and it would go 10 feet on the greens and... More

It's worth a visit for the entertainment factor. The rough was really rough and near impossible to find your ball once it disappeared in it. Fairways are narrow and challenging. We rented golf clubs and as many balls as they could provide us but many were burned and sliced- part of the hazards of golf in the Amazon.

Loved the atmosphere. Tough course, the fairways are like our rough. Greens interesting but the exotic atmosphere the key!

I'm not really a golfer, more of a hacker but yesterday I went to knock a few balls around with my son George. What a great time we had. The Amazon Golf Course is really a paradise in the middle of the jungle. They tell me that they have planted over 3000 trees and plants during the last 3 years.... More

Not much sleep last night as the anticipation of playing the Augusta in the Amazon is more than I can bear. Looking down the number one fairway of the most beautiful golf course in the Amazon, I realize how long it has been since I touched a golf club. My caddie is beside me and suggesting an 8 iron for...
