My husband and I did the 5-day Salkantay trek with Inca Hike, and we cannot speak highly enough of the experience! The trek was organized by Jose, who was communicative, responsible, and kind throughout the process. The scenery on the trek was spectacular, the food was top-notch (with lots of tasty, traditional Peruvian fare), and all the logistics were seamless. Our guide Felix was truly incredible, sharing tons of knowledge about the surrounding nature and Incan culture, along with his own fascinating life stories. We spent the first 2 days in the high mountains surrounded by impressive peaks and turquoise lakes. We thankfully didn't suffer any altitude sickness, but the team came well-prepared with coca tea and other remedies just in case. For the next 2 days, we dipped down into the lush cloud forest, where we tasted some local fruits and had a presentation of coffee-making on a small coffee farm. On the last day, we reached Machu Picchu, where Felix expertly guided us around and shared a long and fascinating history of Peru during and since colonization. From what I could see, he seemed to be giving the most interesting and in-depth explanations of any guide at Machu Picchu! We did this trek in mid-December, which is at the beginning of the rainy season, We experienced a few hours of rain here and there, and shifting clouds throughout the whole trip, but in general I think we were quite lucky with the weather. Again, I can't recommend these guys highly enough. They will take good care of you and give you an unforgettable, personalized experience!

About the 4 day Inca Jungle Trail - I think any inca hike is a "must do" in everyone's bucket list. It challenges you physically, and emotionally, so be prepared. We did the Jungle trail as it had various activities such as river rafting, hiking (different difficulty levels), cable car, hot spring, biking - recommended for family About Inca hike - Jose is a nice/honest guy, but he is not a good communicator. He doesn't give you the full picture, and has a tendency to over commit. The big surprise though was the trips are not designed for a family crowd with a grandmother aged 65+ and kids aged 7, 10 and 15 and that came as a surprise. There was too much unnecessary hiking especially on 3rd day, which should be avoided and replaced with optional train ride. It will cost extra money, and i think folks would be okay with it. We would had we fully understood the trip plan and were given options. Transportation for baggage needs to be considered. But overall the trip was enjoyable, especially because of our guide who goes by nickname "elgato".

José and his staff were perfect. Very accommodating, kind, fun and experienced. My entire group felt right at home, well cared for and at no time were we rushed or confused. The meals were outrageous. I can't believe the skill at which they executed our food over a single propane burner. Tea and coffee before and after, appetizers, dessert, the works!!

Jose was incredible!!! He is extremely knowledgeable about a ton of the history behind the numerous sites and ruins. He was so calm and encouraging on the hike, I never felt pressured to go at a pace I wasn't comfortable with. His entire team was gracious and welcoming. I 100% would recommend Jose and his team for anyone who really wants an amazing experience. Thank you Jose!!!!!

One of the most amazing and hardest things I've ever done. The whole staff was great; the porters were the superman of the whole trek, they are very humble and happy despite of the hard work they do. The cook and kitchen staff were awesome as well because the food was delicious. Our guides were amazing, giving us the best history of the incas and their arquelogical sites that we passed thru out the 4 day trek to Machu Picchu on the sacred inca trail. Definitely something you have to do once or twice in your life time.
