Simply put Nevado Ausangate is incredible. The view from afar, the views while trekking, the views when standing at the base of the highest mountain in the Cordillera Vilcabamba are ones that take your breath away and will be imprinted in your mind forever. If you love trekking you must take the challenge and navigate around this imposing peak. If... More

We did this trek with our bikes during November. Really hard and challenging, but so rewarding! The scenery is beautiful. The only problem we have to dealt with was altitude sickness.

Ausungate is a spectacular mountain visible from and a few hours from Cusco, it dominates the southern (I think) skyline. It is the biggest peak in this mountainous area of Peru. You can get close on the Ausungate and Vinicunca treks, where you can really appreciate the size. Look out for it in Cusco, visible on clear days.

We are a retired couple and this is our step-by-step account of how we went about spending 5 wonderful/thrilling/unforgettable days hiking in the Ausangate area (ie. doing 5 one-day hikes) this past May. WHERE TO STAY: we rented 2 beds in a comfortable cabin at the basecamp of Upis, and from our cabin we did 5 different amazing day hikes... More

If you look for snow , look for the holy mountains of the Ausangate. There are many tracks leading to them in great amazing natural surroundings

We set off to do this trek as individually as possible. However, we didn't want to carry everything on our backs, nor struggle to find the way all the time (the trail is not indicated at all, although with a good map or some sense of orientation it should be possible). We got in contact with a local guy (Herna... More

This is the most beautiful place to trek in South America. We spent 6 days there and did not see one other tourist.

I recommend to do the 7 lagoons tour by horse. This place is higher than Cusco so I recommend to prepare yourself if you are sensitive to heights. This amazing and breathtaking place is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, it's a must!
