Traveling by train from Cuzco to Puno is best done via the train, not by a bus. The Perurail service provides a much more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable way to travel. You can sit back, enjoy the view, stretch your legs and have lunch on a train - none of which is possible on a bus bouncing along the road... More

One of the best rides ever! I can't think of a better way to see the highlands of Peru, it was breathtaking. Along the way great photo opportunities of llamas, alpacas, vicuña, cows, sheep. Colorful, friendly people in small towns. Gourmet lunch and snacks. We loved this trip!

What a surprise . We arrived at Puno station to be met by staff smartly dressed in white uniforms. Our luggage was taken from us and we were offered a choice of teas and coffee. We were then taken on board the train. It was a beautiful carriage with white linen table cloths and lamps on all of the tables.... More

Absolutely loved it! It was on time, it all went smoothly and it was beautiful inside. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Especially Carlos U, Jessica A, and Morishanin. Excellent entertainment on the way back. The snacks were very good as well. The scenery was stunning!

We were really looking forward to this trip after taking their Vistadome to Machu Picchu and Hiram Bingham back to Cusco. We had a week in Cusco between climbing Machu Picchu and our departure to Puno to explore Cusco and acclimate, but my husband was rushed to the hospital twice in that week with altitude sickness and we were advised... We took Puno to Cusco route. Beautiful Pullman railroad cars with exquisite environment. They have pretty good lunch, 5 o'clock tea and free cocktail at the lounge bar zone. Multiple shows with local bands and presentation of alpaca goods with crew members modelling. One stop at the highest point of a trip in a mountains with small church and local... More

On April 22nd 2017, I purchase a round trip ticket from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu for May 03 2017. I received declined, try again message when I checked out on the perurail website. When I call my bank perurail did charge my credit card for the amount. I'm out of 147.00USD and I still do not have a ticket for... More

It's a long journey, but the time passes quite quickly. The scenery is interesting (not stunning), there is live Peruvian music and dancing which passes the time pleasantly enough and a meal which is not of great quality. It is all fine, just not quite what the Peru Rail blurb suggests it will be.

We went Puno to Cusco. When you arrive at Puno station you are treated so well. Your bags are taken away and a member of staff shows you individually to your seats. Service is exceptional. Plenty of really good staff. The food was excellent. You are entertained by local musicians morning and afternoon. There is a great observation car and... More

OK so to address some other comments, the target customer for this trip is middle age / elderly on an organised tour. Expect (and ignore) the entertainment: fashion show, dancing, make a pisco sour. Cheesy in my view. I took the trip because I love railway and wanted to go Cusco-Puno. I was aggrieved by the US$340 price, however it... More
