Our group of 4 (60 somethings) just did the trek over the Salkantay Pass with MLP. Felipe in their Cusco office was a gem.....they took care or hotels in Lima, Cusco, and at Machu Picchu, all of which were wonderful. They assisted in setting up activities before and after the trek and took care of all in country transportation. The... More

I did the Salkantay Trek this January (5 days – 4 nights). The weather was sometimes really bad but luckily the group was great including the 2 awesome guides (André and Raul). The guids provided a lot of interesting information about the nature in Peru and the history oft he Inkas. A highlight was the visit of the hot springs... More

I went to Salkantay Trail right a day after my Inka trail. It was a great experience and totally a different landscape. I traveled in a group of 12 with Machu Picchu Reservation company and enjoyed dealing with David the owner. very friendly and accommodating. I love ti go back again maybe not in month of march anymore, since it... More

I wanted to do the hike because I wanted to escape the crowded Cusco. However, this hike is full of agency groups which let donkeys carry their stuff. Therefore the really stunning nature cannot be enjoyed in silence and you should constantly watch out for excrements on the paths. I liked the view from the pass and you can nicely... More

Nothing compares - even in the rainy season. Had a great family trip and avoided ALL the crowds - felt like an Inca King. Physically fabulous exercise, and culturally stunning. JUST DO IT!!!

There is no shortage of scenery or dramatic views. Your heart rate will climb as you ascend toward the heavens. There is a time for everyone to be at a specific place and mine was met on the Salkantay Trek.

Was surprised that facilities for bathrooms and camping were much better than on the Inca trail. Did the 5 day hike.

I went on a three day trek over Salkantay Pass with Haku Expeditions in Cusco. The views were incredible and being a fairly fit hiker I thought it was an easy-moderate trek. Hiking to the glacial lake from Soraypampa is an absolute must. Haku Expeditions also includes a side trip to Llaqtapata and I would also highly recommend that. Overall... More

I hiked salkantay in August. We didn't get to see the summit of Salkantay montain has it was snowing when we reached the highest point of our trek. The trek itself was an amazing experience. 5kg from your kit will be carried by a horse along the trail. Do not bring to much with you, only the essential and make... More
