The church represents an old stone church dating back to 1750. Built in a distinct Andean Baroque style that uses South American decorative patterns on European-type buildings. The stone façade uses sillar (white volcanic rock) and is commonly used with the many buildings in the...More

The real reason for going to the church & the small square outside is for access to the view across the city and up to the local volcanoes. The church itself is quite small but, as usual, very beautiful and much cared for. The main...More

Unfortunately the church at this small lovely square was closed when we went there, so we cannot say manything about the inside. The front gate is very nice with wonderful stonemasonry.

This is located at the popular viewpoint overlooking the three mountains. Despite being closed outside told its own story assisted by our guide. The large crucifix was interesting and the location provides spectacular views as well as the square in which it is located

Check out this church, located on a nice place with palm trees etc. It starts with a great portal with a lot details and continues to impress on the inside.

Sadly this little church is always closed save when they are having Mass. The main doorway is wonderful carved though and if you go with a guide the imagery is fascinating.

While visiting the Mirador de Yanahuara, make sure to poke your head inside St. John the Baptist church. It's a perfect example of Spanish colonialism in the most perfect setting by the arches and gardens in the Plaza. It's truly lovely, inside and out.

By staying only a few minute walk away from this architectural wonder we saw numerous times throughout our stay in Yanahuara weddings, celebrations, laughter, prayer, song, music....incredible place of worship open to all. On weekends it is a revolving door of wedding after wedding after...More
