Sparce, but focused and very nicely done. First 1/3 of visit is a National Geographic documentary (Interesting, but not clear it was necessary to glorify child sacrifice in the name of religion.)

It is a unique experience to get to see a mummy preserved and frozen, with all of the skin and clothing still intact. The story of Juanita, the mummy, is presented here both hauntingly and in detail here in this well-put-together museum exhibit. Her funerary...More

One of the best museums I have ever been to- hands down. Firstly- half the year Juanita travels/restoration/etc. So when she is not in the museum, they show Sarita who is another ice maiden found not far from where Juanita was found. (Juanita typically comes...More

Took the English tour which includes a video about the museum and then had a tour guide show us inside. Scary but amazing insight into the Incan culture. It was recommended to us by our tour guide from Colca and did not disappoint. So much...More

Like many others one of the main reasons we came to this museum was to hear and see the frozen Juanita. Its interesting that so many people refer to her as a mummy even after visiting the museum. She is not a mummy. Juanita is...More

This museum is fascinating. The tour is informative introduction to the Incas. Despite their human sacrifices they had great learning. Pizzaro, on the other hand, was illiterate. Juanita, the well preserved human sacrifice is very interesting - literally frozen in time.

From what i can see in Google, the hours are 9am to 6pm. With Juanita, I would check first as they do remove her for a few months of the year and replace her with one of the other Ice Mummies. Hope this helps

When you are in Arequipa, stop by and confirm if Juanita is there before you buy your tickets. They might have other mummys or attractions in May. The museum is in downtown Arequipa, so do this as you are walking through... More
