Most Quito people are totally proud of their commercial street and the buildings. The street got some interesting buildings (my office among them) but even though improved over the last couple of years still has no soul. You can find good restaurant and shops somewhere else

An attractive part of Quito with hotels, good restaurants and shops. Ejido Park across the street is a pleasant place to walk, especially on weekends, and gives a flavor if life here. I found that in places. The sidewalks are uneven and not always in good repair.

The first day we were in Quito, we spent the entire day walking around all the areas, especially the Avenida Amazonas. Waling around gives you a good flavor of the people and the area. There are plenty of places to stop and get a bite to eat, sit and enjoy the people or shop

Not really much to see here other than hotels and some shopping. It's a main artery in the city of Quito, but other than that, not much to speak of.

Nice bike lanes on parts of this, a good connector road to parks, plenty of restaurants and useful stores

This is a long Avenue that crosses, north south most of Quito. It has many upscale hotels, shops and shopping malls as well as parks. The shops are similar to what you fid in the US or in other part of the world and not remarkable. Although it is considered safer than the other part of town, it is only... More

Busy street nearby to many of the high end hotels, with many shops, vendors, restaurants scattered around. Check out the huge park closeby, wonderful playground for the kids, and again many street vendors selling anything from art, to clothing. Much safer during the daytime, unless you're not worried about pickpockets.

This area is nice, but pretty busy. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping options, so you can usually find exactly what you're looking for. It's also one of the safer areas in Quito.

The 7.7 km long avenue links two important parts of the city: the commercial and touristic center and the business centre of La Concepción in the North. It is important not to walk along the avenue in the center at night because of the presence of thieves and drug addicts.

This is the main street through the touristy Mariscal Sucre area. It starts at the archway in Parque El Ejido next to the Hilton Hotel Colon. You can witness many exciting things along this street from muggings to street performers. The shopping options are a bit lack lustre. There's a good selection of hotels but that is about it.
