The museum which is connected to the San Francisco Church has a lot of nice religious art and iconography. The signs in the museum are in Spanish only

This is the largest monastery in Quito, located right in the center of the Old Town. We came walking from Calle La Ronda and entered a church which was lavishly decorated - only to find out that this was only a side chapel. The next...More

We visited both the museum, which includes the cloister, and the church. We had an escort (seemed to be required) through our visit (not a guide--he did not speak much English). I'm not sure if you can visit the Cathedral without going through the museum--there...More

Went to the museum by chance, and it was totally worth it. It holds a lot of paintings and sculptures from the colonial times, which are exceptionally well conserved. We did a tour of about an hour and a half, you get to go into...More

The fascinating and somewhat macabre tale of San Francisco is worth learning as is seeing this museum, including the gold altar. Try to go down in the crypt and be sure to have a guide.

As you face the church with your back to the square, the Museum and Convent is on your right, a separate entrance from the church. It is worth seeing. You can access the balcony of the church from inside the Convent as well.

At this museum you can find a complete collection of Ecuadorian art, focused in religious pieces. The museum has seven cloisters, that each one tell their own story. I recommend a guided tour, they are free and guides are well prepared to guide you all...More
