Lovely building

Once inside the building opens up into a number of courtyards. Some great ceiling decorations. Ancient book copying machines on display. Lovely library.

The place has the mystical aura of times past and offers excellent older books in spanish to read. the on-going exhibitions make the Centro Cultural Metropolitano a must to visit because it is dedicated to foster knowledge and culture.

Free to get in, this museum currently has some nice photos of several Latin American country's peoples. Although they have English translations introducing some of the photographers, I thought it could be much improved by having captions on each photo explaining what the photo is about. (who the people and and maybe a brief story for each) The building is... More

This is a very impressive building which is free to enter. At present there is a superb photographic exhibition created by journalists which is a retrospective on the everyday issues facing South Americans. It covers not just Ecuador but many of the other South American countries and explanations are in both Spanish and English. It was so absorbing, we overan... More

Huge under-utilized space. Occasional interesting piece of sculpture but you will find more "works of art or culture" in your typical city block.

One of my favourite places in Quito, you can find temporary photography and exhibitions. The library is huge and you'll find amazing historical books and information.

We went on a free walking tour of the Old Town. Along the way, we stopped at the Metropolitan Cultural Center. Go to the rooftop for some nice views of the Old City Streets

In this Museum there is nothing in english. Not even a flyer or something. And the spanish is quite complicated, so if you don't speak spanish fluently go somewhere else.

Entrance is FREE. While waiting for my appointment time at the Palacio Del Gobierno, I decided to visit this attraction. I was reminded that photo-taking is not allowed. There are not that many exhibits to look at. Most exhibits are very modern. I finished my tour and bathroom break in 15 minutes!
